July 26th, 2009 Posted in Cool Tips | No Comments »

With hundred of business opportunities appearing in your Tweets, the choices can often be overwhelming and therefore many of us will ignore them altogether!

I have looked through many of the offerings and found one to be down to earth and professional…AND at a reasonable price.

Twitter Affiliate Cash gives you all the information you need to master selling through Twitter. The most impressive aspect to me is the ethical approach that helps you to avoid spamming or annoying your followers. We all have people we follow that fill our tweet feed with the same message over and over. Twitter affiliate cash helps you to avoid that by teaching you proper etiquette and courtesy.

Take a few minutes to read my free report and then check it out for yourself! I wish you all the best!

Twitseeker a great tool!

July 3rd, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Just discovered a great tool (Twitseeker) for finding people that:

  • Are looking for what you can provide (business service etc)
  • Have the same interests as you (hobbies, etc)
  • Tweet about something you need or want or have interest in

That’s just a few suggestions how you can use this search tool and best of all…Its FREE!
It is always important to use acceptable standards when using tools like these, as Twitter and the developers of many of these programs are strongly against anything that looks like spam. As long as you are considerate it is acceptable to follow people with hopes they follow you and are then exposed to your interests or businesses.

The Twitter Affiliate Cash system is a great way to gain understanding and insight with regard to marketing through Twitter and the author Bill Mc Rea is very sensitive to acceptable practices. You can read a free report HERE that explains the program in further detail. Twitter Affiliate Cash also does an in depth training on the Twitseeker tool.

I wish you great success in your Twitter Journey!!

Twitter Tools

June 27th, 2009 Posted in Cool Tips | No Comments »

Ok, so now you have your Twitter account and you are starting to get alot of followers, right? By now you have noticed that many Tweeters (Twitter members) pride themselves on the number of followers they have.

In this post I will discuss the dynamics of following and being followed on Twitter.
As with Most social media sites, Twitter has also become a place for businesses of all kinds to get their products known to the masses. (caution: if you use it for business promotion be sure you use acceptable practices and do not spam your followers!!)
One of the best ways to get followers…is to follow those you want to follow you! If you go to www.search.twitter.com you can search Twitter for people that are tweeting about things you are interested. Once you “follow” them usually they will follow you back! (Note: it is etiquette to follow someone who is following you unless you find their content objectionable.)

As your twitter acount grows, it almost goes on autopilot as far as people wanting to follow you, based on your content (so be interesting, informative, and honest!). Once you start growing it becomes a daunting task to log in and manage your new followers by thanking them for following you, following them and other administrative tasks.

One great program that has a free version will really save you time in managing many aspects of your Twitter activities is called Tweet Later. You can sign up by clicking the link below…Have fun!

Twitter Basics

June 27th, 2009 Posted in Cool Tips | No Comments »

Every day there are new social media sites popping up! Just when we thought we were getting used to sites like Facebook or Classmates, new ones pop up that become essential to survive in the social media world. (well at least we are made to feel they are essential!)

I wanted to give some insight that will help you navigate your way through some of the clutter. Today we will discuss some of the dynamics for Twitter.

Twitter  is becoming a major force in social media as a “micro-blog” allowing it’s users to “tweet” or post 140 character entries describing, “what are you doing?” Its free and fun to connect with people around the world that have similar interests.

Here is what to expect with Twitter:

  • It’s FREE!
  • You only need a Username (be creative) and an email address to join .
  • As you “tweet” or post, people find you based on what you post!
  • When you log in the first time you can customize your twitter page under settings.
  • Use the “find people” feature to locate your friends by name, company or even interests.
  • Have Fun!

Of course there are plenty of other features available, and you will enjoy exploring them!

Web Domain Name Registration

November 2nd, 2008 Posted in WebRunner Domains, Cool Tips | Comments Off

Domain name registration is basically what you do to sign up for, register or “own” a domain name or “website name”. Domain names simply put, are the title or name of a given area of the world wide web. For instance, www.webrunnerdomains.com is that Domain which our company runs a website.

There are many myths and misconceptions about domain names and their value. Here we will discuss these common fallacies and provide you with useful information for domain selection ans registration.

First- While several years ago there were some notorious examples of people buying and selling domain names at huge profits, this is the exception not the rule. The lesson here: Unless you are quite experienced and know what you are looking for, stay away from the urge to register domains for resale and profit!

Second - The more valuable domain names are descriptive and to the point. A name like “redcars.com” is far more valuable than “ireallylikeredcars.com”! The shorter the better as well. It is important to think about what your website is actually trying to express, and how people will search to find it.

Third - If you are using your domain for personal use such as a family website, photo site, etc., then your domain name “quality” is not as important because you are not necessarily concerned whether people other than your family and friends find it.

Finally - After reading these basic tips…you may be asking…IF a web domain name should be to the point how do people like google and yahoo get so popular with such a silly name?? Its true, initially one would think it would make more sense to be netsearch.com or something along those lines! The magic of google, yahoo, dimdim, is related primarily to promotion or advertising. How much these companies spent to gain popularity would boggle the mind! There  is no one who uses the Internet that does not know these names even though the names themselves have nothing to do with what you do when you visit them! Great marketing has made them a brand.

Cant send emails from some hotels?

February 2nd, 2008 Posted in Cool Tips | Comments Off

If you travel and stay at various hotels, no doubt you have experienced problems with outgoing emails being blocked or staying in your out box. This can be a real pain in the butt when it comes to being productive. In this article I will give you some tips that may help you get through.

email frustration!

Some hotels have configured their internet service to block outgoing emails so that their ISP’s are not inundated with SPAM. Yes it’s true, spammers stay at hotels too!! Anyway, without getting too technical, the emails are kept from going out in one of two ways that often can be easily remedied.

The First thing to check is your outgoing mail settings. If you are using outlook you can go to account settings and double click on the email account you are using. Next go to “more settings” and click on the “outgoing server” tab. If the “my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” is checked, uncheck this option and click ok. Often when you are in a hotel, you are using their ISP and settings so your authentication will not work with their system. Conversely you may need to check this option if it is unchecked. Now check to see if your emails send. If not try option two!

The second possibility is by changing your SMTP port settings. You must of course check with your ISP (internet service provider) to ask if they provide an alternate port. The most widely used port setting is 25 which is the default setting for POP accounts. To change the port simply go to account settings, double click the email account you are using, click on more settings then select the advanced tab. You will notice a POP port and an SMTP port setting. In the box for the SMTP setting change it from 25 to whatever your ISP provided.

These two methods will work most of the time though not always. IF WebRunner Domains discovers other help for emails we will let you know!

NOTE: When you receive an alternate port from your ISP it is good practice not to publish that port number. This will keep spammers to a minimum on those ports and hotels and other public wifi locations wont be forced to limit use.

Spam, Spam, Eggs & Ham?

October 11th, 2007 Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off

Spam is definitely one of those topics that everyone is having to deal with these days. From pharmaceuticals to sexually explicit content, if you have an email address, you get spammed! There are ways to minimize the amount of spam by remembering things like:

  1. Don’t open emails and especially attachments form people or companies that you are not 100% sure about.
  2. Keep virus and spy ware programs up to date on your computer.
  3. Avoid questionable websites, especially e-commerce sites that do not offer proper encryption.
  4. Unless you are very sure of the source, do not follow links found in emails…for example you want to check your account balance and have a link in an email that appears to be from your bank…you are much better off (more secure) if you type in the main URL to your banks website to assure you are going to the right place!

Spam & more spam!

Unfortunately to date there is no complete way to eliminate spam altogether. There are some interesting programs that have limited success, and there are even programs that seek to “retaliate” spammer sites! One such retaliation type software is currently in Beta testing from Blue Security. I am in no way endorsing there product as it is contriversial and will need some time to bear its true fruit. An interesting summary of this product is available HERE
